A campaign and view-exchange meeting was held in Sylhet on Thursday under the banner of the Association of Engineers, Bangladesh (AAB) ahead of the upcoming biennial election (2027–28) of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).

The meeting took place at the conference hall of Hotel Garden Inn in the city’s Garden Tower area, drawing central election steering committee members, contesting candidates, engineers, and key organizational figures to discuss election strategies and organizational activities.

Engr. Shahrin Islam Tuhin, convener of AAB, attended the event as the chief guest.

Special guests included AAB Member Secretary Engr. Shoeb Bashri Hablu; Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Engr. Mohammad Iqbal; and BADC Sylhet Superintending Engineer and Central Election Steering Committee Joint Member Secretary Engr. Pronojit Kumar Deb.

The meeting was chaired by Engr. Md. Joynal Islam Chowdhury, former chief engineer of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) and member of AAB Sylhet.

Prominent attendees also included SUST Prof. Dr. Engr. Salma Akhtar; AAB Sylhet member Engr. Monjur Ahmad Chowdhury; Central Election Steering Committee member Engr. Rabeya Begum; and BADC Dhaka Deputy Chief Engineer Engr. Muhammad Sarwar Maowla, who is contesting for a central council member position in the election.

According to the official list, Engr. Khan Monjur Morshed is contesting for the post of President, while Engr. Mia Muhammad Qaiyum is running for Honorary General Secretary.

As per the election schedule, voting will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2026, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

IEB is the premier professional organization for engineers in the country, and momentum is building across the engineering community as candidates intensify their campaigns to secure leadership for the next term.
