 Acting Principal of Guimara Government College, Arjun Nath, has come under criticism from students and faculty members over allegations of arbitrariness, financial irregularities, and uncoordinated decision-making.

According to student allegations, former principal Nazim Uddin had collected full two-year operational fees from students at the time of admission before his retirement in June 2026. However, upon assuming the role of acting principal, Lecturer Arjun Nath levied and collected an additional Tk 1,000 fee per student.

 Following widespread dissatisfaction, the College Teachers' Council convened and unanimously decided to refund the extra Tk 1,000 to the affected students. Teachers alleged that Acting Principal Arjun Nath unilaterally overturned the council's collective resolution the following day, refusing to accept liability for fees collected during his predecessor's tenure.

Toufiqur Rahman, a second-year student who finances his own studies through manual labor, expressed deep distress over the extra charge, demanding an immediate refund of their hard-earned money. Lecturer Mozammel Huq confirmed that the faculty council had formally voted to return the excess funds, but the acting principal's unilateral intervention prevented the students from receiving their dues.

When contacted, Acting Principal Arjun Nath admitted to collecting Tk 1,000 each from 255 students, claiming the funds were raised to pay salaries for part-time teachers. Meanwhile, reports indicated that Arjun Nath had previously faced allegations of harassment during the previous administration but evaded institutional action due to political influence before assuming his current position based on seniority.

Guimara UNO  and President of the Guimara Government College Governing Body stated that statements from both parties have been received, adding that an official inspection of college records will be conducted before taking appropriate administrative measures.
