Govt increases budget allocation for health sector: Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni

Chief Whip of Parliament Nurul Islam Moni stated on Friday that the government has increased budget allocations for the health sector to ensure healthcare access and improve medical services across the country.
He made the remarks as chief guest at the inaugural session of the 8th National Conference and Annual General Meeting-2026 of the Bangladesh Thyroid Society (BTS), held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.
Addressing the conference, Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni noted that gaps in measles vaccination over the past two years had negatively impacted public health, adding that the government is actively working to resolve existing challenges and upgrade healthcare delivery. He underscored the importance of elevating public awareness, research, early diagnosis, and advanced treatment regarding thyroid disorders, assuring that he would personally take initiatives and advocate in parliament to support thyroid care and prevention.
Chaired by Bangladesh Thyroid Society President Professor Dr. A K M Fazlul Bari, the day-long conference gathered medical specialists and healthcare professionals to present scientific discussions on thyroid diagnosis, treatment methodologies, thyroid cancer, thyroid complications during pregnancy, and iodine deficiency disorders.
