Vigilant Ansar members recovered an abandoned motorcycle from the Sonargaon Resort City area adjacent to the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Sonargaon Upazila and handed it over to local police, officials said on Friday.
Ansar member Md. Russel Ahmed spotted an abandoned FZ5 model motorcycle lying unattended alongside the highway at around 4:00 PM on Thursday. He alerted the incoming shift Ansar member Md. Zohirul Islam to maintain special surveillance over the vehicle.
After six hours passed without anyone claiming the vehicle, Ansar Camp In-Charge PC Md. Shah Alam instructed personnel to secure the motorcycle for safety. Following unsuccessful local inquiries to locate the owner, the matter was reported to the Sonargaon Upazila Ansar and VDP Officer.
The Upazila officer arrived at the scene around 10:30 PM and informed Sonargaon Police Station to initiate legal protocol. The recovered motorcycle was subsequently handed over to Sonargaon Police Station ASI Md. Saiful Islam in the presence of the recovering Ansar team, earning appreciation from local residents for their alertness and integrity.
