Govt committed to ensuring food security led by PM Tarique Rahman: Food Minister Afroza Khanam

Food Minister Afroza Khanam, MP, inaugurated the 11th BAPA FoodPro International Expo 2026 at the International Convention City Basundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka, emphasizing the government's priority to ensure food security and quality standards on Thursday.
Speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony, the Food Minister stated that adopting modern technology, safe processing, and quality production are essential for advancing Bangladesh's food and agro-based industries. She highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is working to fulfill the election manifesto commitments of BNP regarding agricultural development, farmers' welfare, and food security.
She stressed that strict quality control must be maintained across all stages, including production, processing, storage, and marketing, to ensure safe and healthy food for consumers.
Jointly organized by the Bangladesh Agro-Processors' Association (BAPA) and Rainbow Exhibition & Event Management Services Ltd (REEMS), the three-day international exhibition features over 200 brands from 37 countries, including Italy, Japan, Germany, the United States, China, India, France, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
Presided over by BAPA President Mahbub Anam, the inaugural event was attended by Ambassador of Italy to Bangladesh Antonio Alessandro, Bangladesh Safe Food Authority Chairman Md. Shafiqul Islam, FBCCI Administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman, and Expo Organizing Committee Chairman and PRAN-RFL Group Chairman Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, along with representatives from BAPA and REEMS.
