Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank exchanges view at Secretariat to boost modernization
A high-level view-exchange meeting was held at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday to transform Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank into a modern, efficient, digital, and accountable institution.
Presided over by Financial Institutions Division Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Nazma Mobarek on September 9, the meeting reviewed the overall reforms and performance of the bank alongside its board of directors.
Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP and Chairman of the Bank's Board of Directors, led the delegation representing Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank.
The session commenced with a comprehensive presentation detailing the bank’s current operations, recent progress, existing challenges, and future action plans aimed at enhancing technology-driven financial services. Financial Institutions Division Secretary Nazma Mobarek outlined key directives to address operational challenges, emphasizing the expansion of investments into productive sectors to generate employment and economic advancement for Ansar-VDP members.
Discussions focused on institutional capacity building, including expediting recruitment for vacant positions, optimal utilization of skilled manpower, increasing paid-up capital, updating existing regulations, and enforcing corporate governance.
Directives were also issued to identify the root causes of losses incurred during the 2023-2024 fiscal year, implement Bangladesh Bank guidelines to recover written-off loans, and strengthen overall credit management. Furthermore, attendees highlighted the implementation of HR Automation and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) by 2029 to streamline administrative operations.
Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank Managing Director Mir Mofazzal Hossain, Financial Institutions Division Additional Secretaries Md. Azimuddin Biswas, Md. Sayeed Kutub, and Abu Saleh Md. Mofizuddin Kha, alongside Joint Secretary Farida Yasmin, were present at the meeting.
