Coast Guard seized 3 trucks of urea fertilizer bound for Myanmar, detained two in Sitakunda

The Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 700 bags of urea fertilizer valued at approximately Tk 24.50 lakh and arrested two individuals while attempting to smuggle the cargo to Myanmar via a maritime route in Chattogram.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon said this in a press release on Thursday noon.
Acting on a tip-off, a special operational team from Coast Guard Station Bhatiary conducted a drive near Bashbaria Ghat in Sitakunda Thana at around 1:00 am on Thursday. During the operation, personnel intercepted suspects transferring the fertilizer from three trucks onto a cargo boat intended for illegal transport into Myanmar.
Coast Guard personnel seized 35,000 kilograms of urea fertilizer alongside the three transport trucks used in the operation and detained two smugglers on site.
The Media Officer stated that legal proceedings regarding the confiscated fertilizer, seized vehicles, and detained individuals have been taken adding that the Coast Guard will maintain rigorous operations along coastal routes to prevent cross-border smuggling.
