Science, Technology, Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam stated that the government aims to transition Bangladesh from a labor-dependent economy into a knowledge- and innovation-driven economy.

To achieve this vision, work is actively underway to develop high-tech sectors including artificial intelligence, advanced chip design, and bio-electronics. He emphasized that Bangladesh will establish itself not merely as a consumer of technology, but as an innovator and creator.

The Minister made these remarks while addressing the "Bangladesh Deep-Tech Future" discussion as the chief guest on the second day of the two-day National Semiconductor Symposium and BEAR Summit 2026, held Sunday at the Novo Theatre in Dhaka.

During the discussion, he called for prioritizing the "Made in Bangladesh" brand in the future innovation and export of technology products and services.

Assuring the continuation of comprehensive support for the growth and development of the semiconductor and deep-tech sectors, the Minister declared that the nation's youth possess the capability to lead these industries.

Following his address, Purdue University Senior Vice President Professor Dimitrios Peroulis delivered the keynote presentation at the global academic plenary session. The event was also attended by Ministry of Science and Technology Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain, Professor Mohammad Mostafa Hossain of Purdue University and Chief Architect of Silicon River Bangladesh, and Novo Theatre Director General Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, alongside other distinguished guests.
