GAU tops out of agri universities in QS Sustainability Ranking 2026

Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU has secured the top position among agricultural universities in Bangladesh in the World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026 published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the world-renowned UK-based education and research organization. The university also ranked 3rd among public universities and 5th among all public and private universities in the country, marking a new milestone in its journey.
QS published the ranking on its official website on 19 November 2025.
According to university officials, this achievement reflects the dynamic leadership, long-term strategic planning, and sustainability-focused initiatives of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman, an internationally acclaimed soil and environmental scientist. Within just one year, the university’s consistent progress has elevated it to new heights.
In this year’s ranking, 22 universities from Bangladesh secured positions among 1,994 universities worldwide. Among public universities in Bangladesh, Gazipur Agricultural University ranked right after the University of Dhaka and the University of Rajshahi.
Expressing satisfaction over the achievement, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman said, this achievement is not just a number; it is the result of the sincere effort, honesty, and dedication of every member of our university community. Our journey does not end here—our next goal is to secure a position within the top 100–200 universities in various global rankings.
He further added, competing with nearly two thousand universities worldwide and securing this position is historic for GAKRUBI.
It is mentioned that earlier, in multiple categories of the THE Ranking 2025 and 2026, GAKRUBI ranked first among all public and private universities in Bangladesh.
Besides, in the URI Ranking 2025, the university achieved 77th position in the Development and Application category—placing it within the top 100 universities globally and first in Bangladesh.
