Fraud for providing police jobs, two arrested in Betagi

Betagi (Barguna) Correspondent

Two members of a fraud syndicate have been arrested by Betagi Police Station for swindling three lakh taka from a young man with the false promise of securing a police constable job.

The matter was confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Abdul Halim.

It is learnt that on November 1 last year, fraudsters collected money from Md. Ibrahim Goladar,  grandson of Jalil Goladar from the Gyeramardan area of Betagi upazila in Barguna, by assuring him a police job. They cunningly extracted a total of three lakh taka through bKash and bank transactions.

An oral agreement was made for a job in exchange for six lakh taka in total. However, when the promised job did not materialize and the fraudsters cut off communication, the victim’s family realized they had been deceived. Subsequently, Jalil Goladar, Ibrahim’s grandfather, filed a fraud case at Betagi Police Station, naming four individuals.

According to the police, following the case, a raid team was formed under the direction of Barguna’s Police Superintendent Md. Ibrahim Khalil and led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Abdul Halim. With the help of information technology, an operation was conducted, and Syed Ahmed Prince was arrested from Dhaka’s Uttara area on Sunday (April 6). Based on information provided by him, Monir was arrested the following day, Monday (April 7), from the Gabua area.

Syed Ahmed, son of Shamsul Haque Hawladar from Gabua village in Mirzaganj Thana of Patuakhali district, and Monir Hossain Khan, son of Amjad Hossain Khan from Gyeramardan area in Betagi upazila of Barguna district, are the masterminds of this fraud syndicate. They are active members of a scam network. Information has surfaced that they have swindled lakhs of taka from ordinary people through various inducements.

Barguna’s Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Abdul Halim said,  there is no financial transaction involved in the recruitment of police constables. If the general public remains vigilant, fraudsters will not get the opportunity to deceive them. Two members of the fraud syndicate have been arrested. They will be sent to court in accordance with the law.”
