
Former UP member killed in in Ukhiya road accident

A former union council (UP) member was killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger autorickshaw and a motorcycle in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.
The incident occurred around 3:30 PM on Tuesday at the Kashiarbil area of Rajapalong Union along the Shaheed ATM Zafar Alam Arakan Road (Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Highway), according to Ukhiya Police Station OC Mohammad Arif Hossain.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Mohiuddin, also known as Mohiuddin Munshi (60), son of the late Mokbul Ahmed of North Pukuriyapara in Rajapalong Union. He was a former member of Ward No. 2 of Rajapalong Union Parishad.
OC Arif Hossain said that, based on information from locals, Mohiuddin was returning home from Ukhiya Station on a motorcycle when he collided head-on with an autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction upon reaching the Kashiarbil area. The impact caused both vehicles to crumple, leaving four people injured.
Locals rushed the injured to the Ukhiya Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared one of them dead. The Highway Police have seized both vehicles involved in the accident.
The body of the deceased is currently at the Ukhiya Upazila Health Complex, the OC added.
