Female worker killed in lightning strike in Satkhira

A female worker named Samettaban Begum (42) was killed in a lightning strike in the Chhaygharia area of Kushkhali Union in Satkhira Sadar Upazila. Another female worker named Khukumoni (35) was injured in the incident.
The lightning strike occurred around 10:30 am on Monday.
The deceased Samettaban Begum (42) is the wife of Anar Hossain of Chhaygharia village in Sadar Upazila.
The injured Khukumoni (35) is the wife of Shahidul Islam of the same area.
Local village police Anath said that Samettaban and Khukumoni worked as laborers. The two went to carry paddy to the Kushkhali Kakmari beel on Monday morning. At that time, Samettaban was killed on the spot in a sudden lightning strike. Khukumoni was injured. Khukumoni was rescued and treated by a local village doctor. She is currently out of danger.
