Fishing ban in Kaptai Lake  extended for 10 days

 The three-month (May to July) ban on fishing in Kaptai Lake has been extended for another 10 days to ensure proper reproduction, growth, stocking and balance of the fish resources.
 
This decision was announced at a meeting of the committee on imposing a ban on fishing in Kaptai Lake held at the Rangamati Deputy Commissioner's office on Monday  morning.
 
The meeting was presided over by the committee chaired by Deputy Commissioner Nazma Ashrafi, and was attended by Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) Rangamati Manager Faiz Al Karim, District Fisheries Officer Mizanur Rahman, Chief Scientific Officer of Fisheries Research Institute Rangamati Haider Hossain, as well as leaders of fish traders and fishermen organizations.
 
 The district administration said that in order to ensure the natural reproduction, growth and production of carp fish in Kaptai Lake during the current season, a ban on fishing was imposed for three months from April 25. Since the breeding season was completed smoothly during this period.
