In protest of the conspiracy to foil the DUCSU election, harassment of women, attacks on students at CU and BAU, and the continued false propaganda against Chhatra Shibir, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir organized a protest rally and assembly in Barishal on Friday at 10:00 AM..
The rally started from Nagar Bhaban, paraded through Girja Mahalla, and concluded with an assembly at Town Hall Square.
The protest rally and assembly, organized by the Barishal Metropolitan Branch of Chhatra Shibir, was presided over by Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Central Executive Council Member and Barishal Metropolitan President Hasan Naeem. Conducted by Barishal Metropolitan Secretary Abdur Rahman Sujan, other speakers include Barishal District President Akbar Hossain and Barishal University President Aminul Islam
In his presidential address, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Central Executive Council Member and Barishal Metropolitan President Hasan Naeem said that cyberbullying, harassment of women, and the politics of tagging are destroying the healthy environment of campuses. He said that many of those who speak about women’s rights are themselves involved in activities of harassment, offensive remarks, and cyberbullying against women.
He called for abandoning such politics and urged everyone to cooperate in creating a student-friendly environment on campuses.
