DU students injured in July Uprising honoured

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has honoured Dhaka University students injured in the July Uprising.

Over two hundred injured Dhaka University students were honored at a program titled ‘The Heroes of Dhaka University’ at the Student-Teacher Center on Monday evening.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was the chief guest at the programme and Information Adviser to the Interim Government Nahid Islam was present as the guest of honour.

The programme was presided over by the Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Mahin Sarkar, and was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Convener of the Provost Standing Committee Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun and Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Dr. Giti Ara Nasreen were present as special guests. Coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, injured students and leaders of various student organizations spoke at the event.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said, "We have entered a new potential Bangladesh through the July Uprising in exchange for the sacrifices of the students and the public. We must utilize this potential by remembering those who sacrificed themselves in the uprising."
