DU Statistics Department freshers' reception held

The freshers' reception of the first-year undergraduate program students of Dhaka University Statistics Department was held on Monday at the Student-Teacher Center Auditorium. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest at the event.
The event was presided over by the Departmental Chairman Prof Dr. Zafar Ahmed Khan, and the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the National University Prof Md. Lutfar Rahman and the Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr. Abdus Salam spoke as special guests. The program was hosted by Humaira Beg Lamia, a student of the department.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan urged the students to develop into skilled human resources by participating in co-curricular activities along with their studies.
He said that students can work as volunteers by joining various clubs of the university. They can learn a particular foreign language, which can be useful in their later life.
Thanking the departmental alumni for providing scholarships to the students, the Vice-Chancellor said that alumni should come forward for the overall development of the university. He emphasized on strengthening the alumni network with the university.
At the event, scholarships were given to 11 students of different years for good results in the exams.
