DU Prof Dr. Shagir Ahmed gets National Fisheries Medal

Professor Dr. Md. Shagir Ahmed, Department of Zoology, Dhaka University, has been awarded the 'National Fisheries Award-2026 (Gold Medal)' for his outstanding contribution to fisheries research. He received this award in the fisheries researcher and scientist category.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presented the award to him at the inaugural ceremony of the National Fisheries Award organized at the George Institute Mini Stadium ground in Achmita Union, Katiadi Upazila, Kishoreganj on August 16.
After receiving the National Fisheries Award, Professor Dr. Md. Chagir Ahmed met with the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam, at his office on Monday. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani was present at the time.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam sincerely congratulated Prof Dr. Md. Shagir Ahmed on receiving the National Fisheries Award and said that the Dhaka University family is very proud of his achievement.
