The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh is implementing various initiatives to develop skilled human resources by linking university education, research, and innovation with the needs of the industry.

To this end, UGC is coordinating the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 10 universities and industrial and commercial institutions, said UGC member Professor Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun.

He made these remarks while addressing the chief guest at a seminar titled 'University-Industry Collaboration: Entrepreneurship Development, Innovation and Sustainable Development' organized at Khulna University on August 15, 2026.

UGC member Dr. Mamun said, UGC is working to bring about five lakh students under special training for the overall development and modernization of the country's industrial sector.

Prof Mamun highlighted four initiatives of the UGC to strengthen cooperation between universities and industry. He said, firstly, the UGC is working to include the industry in the curriculum review and updating of higher education. Second, it is working to create internship and placement opportunities for university students in industrial institutions.

Khulna University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim presided over the program, while the university's Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Harun Rashid Khan and Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Nurunnabi were present as special guests. University teachers, officials, students and industry representatives were present at the program.

Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between four institutions and Khulna University at the event.
