
DU holds program titled ‘Beautify the city with spring flowers’

A program titled ‘Beautify the city with spring flowers’ was held at the Curzon Hall of Dhaka University on Thursday with the theme ‘Build a city of native trees, protect life, nature and biodiversity’.
The program was jointly organized by the Dhaka University Arboriculture Center and the Estate Office with the aim of conserving native trees and enhancing the beauty of the city. Dhaka University Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the event.
The event was presided over by the Director of the Arboriculture Center, Prof Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, and was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Prof Dr. Md. Enamul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof Dr. Abdus Salam, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof Dr. Md. Salim Reza, Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Mohammad Ejaz and Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md. Shahjahan Mia spoke as special guests. Acting Estate Manager Fatema Binte Mustafa, teachers and students were present.
Treasurer Prof Dr. M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury highlighted the importance of planting native species of trees to protect nature and biodiversity and said that native plants are the habitat of numerous animals including various species of birds.
