Discussion on 'Relevance of Nazrul’s Thoughts in Current Context of Bangladesh ' held in Faridpur

A special discussion meeting titled “The Relevance of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s Thoughts and Philosophy in the Current Context of Bangladesh” was held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Teachers’ Council Auditorium of Faridpur Government Rajendra College, organized by Faridpur Tamaddun Majlish. Poets, litterateurs, journalists, writers, educationists, and researchers participated in the event.
The chief guest of the discussion meeting was Additional DIG of Bangladesh Police Md. Saiful Haque.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Obaidur Rahman, President of Faridpur District Tamaddun Majlish, and conducted by General Secretary Professor Munirul Islam.
Among others present at the discussion were veteran educationist Professor M. A. Samad, former Chairman of Jashore Education Board and editor of the Daily Fatehabad newspaper Professor A. B. M. Sattar, Principal of Government Rajendra College Professor Abdul Halim, President of Faridpur Nazrul Parishad Professor Matiur Rahman, Principal of Faridpur Muslim Mission College Abdullah Al Mamun, FD advisor Azharul Islam, President of Zia Mancha Faridpur Abdullah Al Mamun, along with others.
Speakers at the meeting said that National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s secular outlook, humanistic values, and thirst for freedom and justice have become newly meaningful in today’s Bangladesh. They also said that the language of Nazrul’s rebellious poetry, songs, and essays is deeply influencing the thinking of the younger generation in contemporary society.
At the event, Nazrul Sangeet was performed by Bishnapada Ghoshal and Liyakat Hossain.
