Dhaka–1 Constituency: Jamaat candidate announces election manifesto

Only 3 days remain before the National Parliamentary Election. As part of this, Jamaat-e-Islami’s parliamentary candidate for the Dhaka–1 constituency, Barrister Nazrul Islam, has announced his election manifesto.
On Sunday at 7:30 pm, he announced the manifesto at a meeting with journalists from Dohar–Nawabganj at the Jamaat-e-Islami office in Lotakhola New Market of Dohar upazila.
In the manifesto, he pledged to build a discrimination-free, modern Dohar–Nawabganj. In the election manifesto, he promised the renovation of all schools, colleges, madrasas, mosques, temples, churches, and orphanages in both upazilas to promote education, religious, and social values, as well as the establishment of libraries in every mosque and madrasa, introduction of educational scholarships for meritorious students, establishment of technical and IT training centers, strengthening religious harmony and social unity, and organizing cultural programs.
In the health sector, he stated that modern equipment would be added to the health complexes in Dohar and Nawabganj upazilas, specialized services would be introduced, and health cards would be launched for the poor, elderly, and persons with disabilities. He said he would work to transform the region into one of the country’s most planned, prosperous, and modern areas.
For expatriate welfare, there are plans to establish legal assistance centers to protect expatriates’ assets and dignity, create safe investment opportunities, and form cells in Dohar–Nawabganj. In the transport and infrastructure sector, he said he would renovate all roads, bridges, and culverts and ensure fast and safe connectivity with Dhaka through development initiatives. He also promised the development of rural roads and market infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted electricity and internet connectivity in every village.
For the development of the traditional handloom industry in Dohar and Nawabganj, he announced initiatives to introduce modern technology, provide training, expand markets, create export opportunities, and establish industries. The manifesto also mentions dredging to revive the near-dead Ichamati River, connecting sluice gates with the Padma River at the Dohar border, restoring navigability, and implementing riverbank protection projects.
In the energy sector, he pledged gas connections to every household, increased investment in renewable energy, and ensuring the safety of gas lines. For women’s development, he promised ensuring participation in education, employment, and leadership, establishing legal assistance cells to prevent violence against women and children, providing allowances for widows and destitute women, and launching entrepreneur training projects.
