Deep tube -well installed, view exchange held in Lakshmipura at initiative of GCC: Extensive development programmes undertaken to build clean, Green City : Shawkat Hossain Sarkar

A deep tube well has been installed and an opinion exchange meeting with local residents was held in Lakshmipura area of Gazipur city at the initiative of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC). The meeting was held on Friday noon at the Lakshmipura Private Primary School playground.
The meeting discussed the installation of the deep tube well to address the local water crisis, as well as various issues concerning development, education, drug prevention and civic services in the area.
The meeting was chaired by Ahammad Ali Rujdi, former vice-president of Gazipur Metropolitan BNP, and conducted by Ain Uddin Talukder, vice-president of the Metropolitan Krishak Dal. Shawkat Hossain Sarkar, President of Gazipur Metropolitan BNP and Administrator of GCC attended the meeting as the chief guest. Former mayor of GCC Abdul Karim was present as the main discussant.
In his speech, Chief Guest Shawkat Hossain Sarkar said, “As part of our public service activities, a deep tube well has been installed in the Lakshmipura area. Gazipur City Corporation is working to ensure civic facilities for city residents.”
He further said, “Following the directives of Tarique Zia, we will work to transform Gazipur City Corporation into a clean and green city. Extensive development activities have already been undertaken across the city corporation area. Gradually, the problems in different areas of the city will be identified and necessary measures will be taken.”
Shawkat Hossain Sarkar said ensuring basic civic facilities for residents is one of the major responsibilities of the city corporation. He said coordinated efforts would be undertaken with the relevant authorities to improve civic services, including access to safe drinking water, cleanliness and road development.
In his speech, former mayor Abdul Karim said, “Drugs have become a major problem in our area. We are building a social resistance against drugs. Many drug dealers have already been handed over to law enforcement agencies.”
Mostafa Nina, Vice-president of Gazipur Sadar Metro Thana and former GS of Kazi Azim Uddin College, said, “We need to move forward by focusing on the government’s six-month activities, achievements and future plans.
During the opinion exchange meeting, speakers highlighted various problems in the area, including the water crisis, drug abuse, educational institutions, roads, cleanliness and civic services. Local residents also called for effective initiatives by the city corporation to resolve these problems
Among others, Metro. Swachhasebak Dal Member Secretary Abdul Halim Molla, former organizing secretary of Metropolitan Swachhasebak Dal Bappi Dey, former joint secretary of Metro Chhatra Dal Imran Hossain Arif, and leaders of BNP and its affiliated organizations also spoke at the meeting.
Local political leaders and activists, eminent persons and residents of the area were present at the event.
