Rafiqul Islam Rana, Araihazar (N'ganj)

Four children from the same house drowned in a pond while taking a bath in Araihazar, Narayanganj. The incident took place on Thursday (August 20) evening in Khanpara area of Duptara union of the upazila.

The deceased children are Ozaifa (10), Afsa (12), Riya Moni (8) and Rubaiya (8). Their homes are in Khanpara area of Duptara. Among the deceased, Ozaifa's father's name is Al-Amin,
Afsa's father's name is Munna and Riya Moni's father's name is Jahangir and Rubaiya's father's name is Rakib. All of them study in different classes of the local school.

According to police and local sources, the family members started searching for the children in the area after they could not be found at home in the afternoon. At one point, they became suspicious when they saw children's shoes and sandals lying on the pond next to Munna's house. Later, family members and local people went into the pond and rescued four children from under the water. In the evening,
After the rescue, two children were taken to the Araihazar Upazila Health Complex and the other two children to a local clinic. After examinations, the doctors on duty there declared all four children dead. Many eyewitnesses said that the children had bathed in the pond at the same time around 2.30 pm.

Dr. Shimul, a doctor in the emergency department of the Araihazar Health Complex, said that two children were taken to Araihazar and the other two to the clinic. All four died before being brought to the hospital.

OC of Araihazar Police Station, Sabzel Hossain, said that police were sent to the scene after receiving information. There is no complaint from the family.
