In a vibrant celebration of creativity and imagination, a daylong children’s art exhibition and drawing competition was held on Friday in the Bandaghat area of Rupganj, Narail.

The event, organised by local art group Charunir, brought together young talents and their families in a colourful and joyous gathering dedicated to artistic expression.

More than 50 young artists showcased their work in a temporary open-air gallery, where vivid depictions of rural life adorned the walls. The paintings illustrated scenes such as Nabanna festivals, paddy harvesting, fishing villages, palanquin-borne weddings, bullock carts, winter pitha-making, and various birds and blossoms — including shimul and palash trees — all seen through the eyes of children.

Young artist Sadia Munni said, “I love painting. I came here with my mother. Right now, I’m colouring a scene where a bride is being taken to her in-laws’ house in a palanquin.”

Another participant, second-grader Akash Biswas, shared, “I came to draw pictures. One of my paintings is being exhibited here. It shows the countryside – trees, houses, and a farmer carrying paddy home on his head.”

Speaking about the initiative, Nazmul Hasan Liza, Director of Charunir, said, “Children often draw only for competitions where only the top three are rewarded. We wanted to give every child the joy of seeing their artwork on display. That’s what inspired this event.”

He added that the exhibition not only celebrated creative expression but also encouraged children to explore and embrace their imagination with pride and freedom.

Among others present were Asadur Rahman, Sagar Sen, Ashish Roy, and Arpita Pal, who supported and encouraged the budding young artists throughout the day.

The event was a vibrant showcase of rural life through art and created a space where children could feel proud of their creative voice — a truly heartwarming contribution to Narail’s cultural scene.
