Cumilla's Anwar Hossain contesting in Swiss parliamentary elections

Anwar Hossain of Laksham in Comilla is the only Bangladeshi who is contesting as the CVP nominee of Basel City area in the Swiss parliamentary elections. Voting for the Swiss Parliament elections will be held on October 20. If he wins this election, he will be the first Muslim member of parliament in the history of Switzerland.

Anwar Hossain, a permanent resident of Switzerland, is a son of deceased Rangu Mia of Fatepur village in Laksam Municipal area of Comilla district and the younger brother of Humayun Kabir Parvez, president of Laxam Municipal BNP, who went missing during the Awami League government.

According to family sources, Anwar Hossain, the CVP nominee in the Swiss parliamentary elections, is an educated and elegant person. He holds an MBA degree and is an established businessman in the Basel city area of Switzerland. She married an established citizen in Switzerland and settled there permanently. Her parents-in-law are citizens of Switzerland and are involved in the political activities of that country. They served there as members of Parliament for a long time. As the son-in-law of a political family, Anwar Hossain is contesting in that country's parliamentary elections.

Bangladeshi Anwar Hossain father of two daughters. He is the third of four brothers. Elder brother Humayun Kabir Parvez, president of Comilla's Laksam Paur BNP, went missing in 2013. Major brother Golam Farooq is one of the top leaders of Laksam Upazila BNP and younger brother Iqbal Hossain is an established businessman in America.

In this country after four years the government is formed by the majority of 110 members in the parliamentary elections. Four political parties alternately run the government based on consensus. Bern is the capital of Switzerland. 132nd country in the world in terms of size. The system of governance is federal semi-democratic. The country is ruled by a seven-member federal assembly. One of the hallmarks of the Swiss government is that the president is changed on January 1 each year. A member of the four-party consensus cabinet is prime minister for one year.

Political analysts are proud to see Bangladeshi Anwar Hossain contesting in the parliamentary elections of Switzerland, a peaceful and prosperous country in the world, as a positive thing. They think that the image of Bangladesh will shine if Anwar Hossain wins.

When asked about his candidacy in the Swiss parliamentary elections, Anwar Hossain said over the phone, "My biggest identity is that I am a Bangladeshi." Switzerland is a country of great beauty. It is a matter of pride to be able to compete in the parliamentary elections of this country. I will work dedicatedly for public welfare if elected.
Meanwhile, UK BNP President Abdul Malek has already reached in Switzerland to participate in the election campaign on behalf of Anwar Hossain. He urged the voters to make Anwar Hussain the winner by campaigning extensively.
