National Pension Authority and Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner office jointly organized a Divisional Pension Fair on Universal Pension Scheme on Friday in Rajshahi.

This pension fair is organized to create public awareness about the universal pension scheme and to bring the services of this scheme to the doorsteps of the people. Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Mohammad Tofazzel Hossain Miah inaugurated the 'Rajshahi Divisional Pension Fair-2024' held at the city's Haji Muhammad Mohsin Government High School ground as the chief guest.

In the speech of the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the departmental pension fair, the chief secretary said that the prime minister thought that when the common people retire, they will become old; May they be safe and secure then.

Government has launched universal pension scheme so that all government employees like rickshaw pullers, farmers, weavers, NGO workers get pension. Pension means you will deposit some money in your good days and the government will continue to pay you every month in your bad days.

Pointing out that the economic condition of the country is very strong, he said, if you don't deposit money, the government doesn't care, but the government has given you an opportunity; So that no one is in danger in the future.

In response to many people's question whether my money is safe in the pension scheme, he said that if you keep money in the government bank, you will also get this money back. This money is also safe with the pension authority; They are keeping this money in banks, treasury bills. Your pension will be paid from the profits made by safe investments. Participant of public pension scheme can see how much money is deposited in his account at the end of the day.

Md. Tofazzal Hossain Mia said about the equality scheme among the four universal pension schemes, those who are the poorest people, whose income is less than 60 thousand taka per year, if they deposit 500 taka per month, the government will give another 500 taka on their behalf. In this way, if you deposit five hundred taka for forty-two years, you will get a pension of taka 34 thousand 465 per month. Sons and daughters will get lump sum if he/she dies before depositing money and if he/she dies before 75 years after receiving pension his/her family will get pension till he/she attains 75 years of age.

Highlighting the benefits of Pravas, Pragati and Suraksha schemes, he said that the highest contributors to these schemes will now get four times the pension of a secretary. During this time, he advised to deposit the subscription in advance to get the maximum benefits.

Appreciating the fair organized in Rajshahi, the chief guest said that the trade fair-agricultural fair has fallen to this pension fair and the whole country can follow this fair. Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir presided over the event and the member of National Pension Authority, Md Golam Mostafa, gave a welcome speech.

Rajshahi Range DIG Anisur Rahman, Financial Institutions Department Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Salim Ullah and Microcredit Regulatory Authority Executive Vice Chairman Md Fasiullah spoke as special guests.

Among others, Deputy Commissioners of 8 districts of Rajshahi Division, Superintendents of Police, public representatives, officials and employees of various government departments, NGO representatives, journalists and dignitaries were present.

In the fair, 125 stalls of various government offices, banks and financial institutions, NGOs and UDCs of the department displayed posters, leaflets and documentaries on the registration process, benefits and rules and regulations related to pension in various schemes of universal pension. At the end of the opening of the fair, the public pension matters were presented on the stage.
