Awareness workshop on climate-resilient water, solid waste management in Satkhira

An awareness workshop on the Go For Impact program on climate-resilient water and solid waste management has been held in Satkhira. The workshop was held on Wednesday (April 23) morning at the Lake View Resort Conference Room in the city, organized by the Satkhira District Administration and Uputar in collaboration with Switzerland, WaterAid Bangladesh-SwissContact Bangladesh Consortium. Deputy Director of the Local Government Department, Mashruba Ferdous, was present as the chief guest at the workshop.

Satkhira Municipality Chief Executive Officer Ishtiaq Ahmed, Deputy Director of the Department of Women's Affairs Nazmun Nahar, Shyamnagar Upazila Agriculture Officer Nazmul Huda, Satkhira Water Development (Board 1) Sub-Divisional Engineer Sheikh Al Muizur Rahman, Satkhira Municipality Social Development Officer Ziaur Rahman and many others were present.
The chief guest said that the development plans of the local government should be with the participation of the people. How can we provide a safe living environment for the people and ensure water. The things that are needed to ensure them are very expensive. For this, government, private organizations and NGOs should come forward. If everyone cooperates, we can reach sustainable solutions in terms of local needs and realities.
The workshop discussed in detail the implementation of climate change, water and solid waste management policies. Participants exchanged views on the current status, challenges, and possible solutions of implementing laws and policies at the local level through group work.
Officials from SwissContact Bangladesh, WaterAid Bangladesh, various upazila-level departments, Union Parishad chairmen, and UP members were also present at the workshop.
