Coast Guard seized fertilizers, food items, detained 6 smugglers bound for Myanmar

The Bangladesh Coast Guard detained six smugglers and seized a substantial quantity of subsidized fertilizers and food items being illegally trafficked to Myanmar off the coast of Noakhali's Bhasan Char.
Lt. Cmdr. Sabbir Alam Sujon, Coast Guard Media Officer said ihis in a press release on Wednesday night.
According to the Coast Guard, acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Bhasan Char on Tuesday afternoon at around 4:00 PM near the Ganguriar Char sea area. During the raid, authorities intercepted a suspicious cargo boat and recovered 24,500 kilograms of urea fertilizer valued at approximately BDT 1,704,250, alongside 3,700 kilograms of chickpeas, 6,850 kilograms of split gram, and the vessel itself.
Legal proceedings regarding the confiscated goods have been taken
, the seized boat, and the six detained individuals. The Coast Guard reiterated that anti-smuggling operations will continue to safeguard national resources and security.
