July sparks mass uprising : DU's initiative to publish anthologies

Dhaka University administration has taken the initiative to publish a collection on the historic July Uprising. For this purpose, a committee has been formed with the Dean of the Faculty of Arts as the convener.
This collection will include memoirs of July warriors, articles, essays on the July Uprising, and July-centric programs of various departments and institutes. Teachers, students, officers and employees of Dhaka University have been requested to send their writings and programs to the Director of Public Relations.
It is mentioned that a decision was taken in a recent meeting to formulate a program to celebrate the second anniversary of the July Uprising. The meeting, held at Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom, was presided over by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam.
Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall: Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall will hold a discussion meeting and award distribution ceremony in memory of the July 2024 Mass Uprising on Wednesday evening at 7 pm at the TV room of the hall with the theme of the July Revolution. Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam will be the chief guest at the event and University Grants Commission member Professor Dr. Md. Aslam Hossain will be present as the special guest. Hall Provost Professor Dr. Md. Ilias Al-Mamun will preside over the event.
Institute of Social Welfare and Research: On this occasion, a seminar, discussion meeting and commemorative program titled 'July Mass Uprising in Consciousness: Sense of Responsibility and What We Can Do' will be held at the Institute Auditorium on August 3 at 10:00 am under the initiative of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam will be present as the chief guest at the program.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall: On this occasion, a discussion meeting will be held at the July Shahid Smriti Bhaban Hall Auditorium on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 4:00 PM under the initiative of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall. The event will be presided over by the Principal of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, and the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam, will be present as the chief guest.
Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences: A discussion on 'July Uprising and Non-Discrimination Education System' will be held at the RI Khan Auditorium of the Department of Geography and Environment on Thursday at 9:00 am at the initiative of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Dhaka University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam will be the chief guest at the event and Professor Mohammad Safi Ullah of the Department of Geography and Environment will be present as the discussant.
Kabi Jasim Uddin Hall: On the initiative of Kabi Jasim Uddin Hall, an essay competition and special parliamentary debate on the subject of the July Revolution, a special prayer at the Hall Mosque for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs, and a discussion titled 'Living July in Memory and Awakening' have been organized at the Hall Auditorium at 7 pm today, Wednesday. The discussion will be chaired by the Hall's Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani will be present as the chief guest.
Masterda Suryasen Hall: On this occasion, a discussion titled 'Bloody July in Memory' will be held at 7 pm in the TV room of the hall at the initiative of Masterda Suryasen Hall on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. The program will be presided over by Suryasen Hall Principal Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, with Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury as the chief guest and Marufa Maya, a participant in the July Uprising and a victim of the attack, as the special guest.
Department of Criminology: As part of the program to celebrate the second anniversary of the July Uprising, a poetry recitation, remembrance and cultural program titled 'July Uprising Commemoration Discussion' was held at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the initiative of the Department of Criminology.
The function was presided over by Departmental Chairman Md. Rezaul Karim Sohag. Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Kazi Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman was the guest of honor and Proctor Md. Israfil Ratan was present as the special guest. Lecturer Fabia Mahbub delivered the welcome speech. Students recited memoirs, recited poems and performed songs. A documentary on the July Movement was screened. 3rd year students Farhan Ahmad and Ashfa Binte Latif conducted the program.
Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue Center: The Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue Center has organized a discussion titled ' Nonpartisanship in July Revolution ' on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 2:30 PM at Kala Bhaban. Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Sarkar will be present as the chief guest at the event. Chaired by the Chairman of the Department of World Religions and Culture, Professor Dr. Md. Abu Sayem, the department's professors Dr. Mohammad Ilyas and Dr. Muha. Abdullah Al Mahmud will address the seminar. Associate Professor of the department, Dr. Shafi Md. Mustafa will present the keynote address.
English Department: On this occasion, a seminar titled ' July Commemoration Programme ' will be held tomorrow, Thursday, at the initiative of the English Department in Room 2080 of Kala Bhavan. English Department Chairperson Professor Dr. Tazin Aziz Chowdhury, along with teachers and students, will be present at the event.
