Coast Guard seized 80,000 Yaba tablets in Teknaf

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has recovered 80,000 Yaba tablets worth approximately 40 million taka in two separate anti-narcotics drives in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan disclosed the details on Friday afternoon.
According to the Coast Guard, acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Teknaf at midnight on Friday in a jungle area near the Marine Drive in Lomborighat, where officials seized 50,000 abandoned Yaba pills valued at roughly 25 million taka.
In a separate operation early Friday morning at around 5:00 AM, Coast Guard Outpost Shahpori intercepted a suspicious mechanized wooden boat in the Jaliapara area adjacent to the Naf River in Shahpori Island. Smugglers ignored signals to stop, beaching the vessel near the riverbank and fleeing on foot. Subsequent searches of the abandoned boat led to the seizure of 30,000 Yaba tablets valued at 15 million taka, along with the smuggling vessel.
Legal procedures have been taken to dispose of the seized narcotics and the confiscated boat, the media officer added, affirming that the Coast Guard's operations against drug trafficking will continue.
