Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 20,000 Yaba tablets worth approximately Tk 1 crore during a drive in the Hnila Leda area under Teknaf Upazila of Cox's Bazar, officials said on Friday afternoon.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Media Officer of the Coast Guard, confirmed that Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted the operation at a residential house around 11:00 AM on Thursday following a secret tip-off.
During the search, Coast Guard personnel recovered 20,000 Yaba pills along with a mobile phone. However, the suspected drug traffickers managed to flee the scene upon sensing the presence of the law enforcement team.
The seized contraband and the mobile phone were subsequently handed over to Teknaf Model Station for further legal action.
The Coast Guard will maintain its anti-narcotics drives to curb drug smuggling across coastal regions, the press release added.
