Coast Guard seized 20,000 Yaba pills, diesel engines bound for Myanmar in Cox's Bazar

In two separate operations across Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh Coast Guard personnel seized 20,000 Yaba tablets and confiscated five diesel engines alongside spare parts intended for smuggling into Myanmar.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon said this in a press release on Monday noon.
Acting on a secret tip-off, a team from Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted a targeted raid at around 9:00 AM on Monday in the Naf River near Nazirpara under Teknaf Police Station. Personnel recovered a floating white packet tied to a fishing net buoy containing 20,000 Yaba pills valued at approximately Tk 1 crore.
In another operation around 4:00 AM on Monday, joint teams from Coast Guard Station Cox's Bazar and Station Maheshkhali intercepted a suspicious fishing boat in the sea near Cheradweep Island under Maheshkhali Police Station. A search of the vessel led to the seizure of five single-cylinder diesel engines and related equipment worth Tk 7.10 lakh, which were being illegally smuggled into Myanmar. The smugglers managed to dive into the water and flee as patrol boats approached.
Legal procedures regarding the confiscated narcotics, smuggled machinery, and the seized fishing boat have been taken.
