Coast Guard medical team rescued critically ill passenger on Dhaka-bound launch

Acting swiftly on an emergency call to its hotline, Bangladesh Coast Guard personnel provided critical medical support and organized the emergency evacuation of an ailing female passenger from a Dhaka-bound launch on Monday.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon said this in a press release on Monday afternoon.
At around 10:00 AM on Monday, a passenger boarded the MV Rajarhat-B launch with his niece from Bhola to travel to Dhaka for advanced medical care. By 1:00 PM, as the vessel reached the Akhoner Ghat area under Haimchar Police Station in Chandpur, the patient experienced severe respiratory distress and her condition deteriorated rapidly. Her uncle immediately dialed the Coast Guard emergency helpline (16111) requesting urgent medical assistance.
Responding promptly to the call, a specialized medical team equipped with oxygen cylinders from Coast Guard Station Chandpur boarded the launch via a speed boat and administered emergency care.
The medical team subsequently evacuated the patient using a Coast Guard vessel and transported her directly to the Emergency Department of Chandpur Sadar Hospital. Following initial treatment, attending physicians advised her immediate transfer to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she was dispatched via a private ambulance.
The Coast Guard remains continuously prepared to respond to emergency calls and render medical aid to citizens in distress, the presss release added.
