Bangladesh Coast Guard has  safely rescued  300 passengers from Ilisha.Ghat in Bhola..

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque provided this information on Sunday noon.

On  Saturday at 8:00 PM, a passenger-laden bulkhead named “MB Zakaria Jihad-1,” traveling from Lakshmipur to Ilisha, got stranded on a submerged shoal near the Ilisha launch terminal in Bhola Sadar Upazila. At that time, a passenger from the bulkhead sought assistance from the Coast Guard via mobile phone. Based on the received information, the Bangladesh Coast Guard Station Ilisha swiftly dispatched a five-member rescue team to the location.

Subsequently, the Coast Guard rescue team safely transferred all passengers to the Ilisha launch terminal without any casualties or damage. The rescued passengers expressed their gratitude to the Coast Guard.

The bulkhead was transporting passengers beyond its capacity despite lacking approval for passenger transport and a fitness certificate. Consequently, the bulkhead, along with three crew members, was detained. Legal proceedings against the detained bulkhead and crew members are currently in progress.

Every member of the Bangladesh Coast Guard remains firmly committed to ensuring the overall safety of people in coastal and riverine areas. Such operations will continue in the future.
