
Coast Guard detained 6 smugglers with huge cements, clothing items in Cox’s Bazar

Bangladesh Coast Guard detained six individuals with a large quantity of cement, electronics, and ready-made clothing items during smuggling from Cox’s Bazar to Myanmar.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-Ul-Haq provided this information through a press release on Monday noon.
Based on confidential information, it was learned that a large quantity of cement, electronics, and ready-made clothing items were to be smuggled to Myanmar via an engine-powered wooden boat from Sonadia Island under Maheshkhali Thana of Cox’s Bazar through the Naf River estuary.
Based on the received information, on March 31, 2025, Monday, at 1:00 AM, a special operation was conducted by the Bangladesh Coast Guard Outpost Shahpari in the Habibchhara sea area under Teknaf Thana. During the operation, 600 bags of cement, 600 mobile chargers, 60 pocket routers, 25 Bluetooth earphones of various brands, 10 motorcycle batteries, 560 kg of welding rods, 395 liters of paint, 286 clothing items, and 16 rolls of tarpaulin were seized from the wooden boat being used for smuggling to Myanmar, along with the detention of 06 smugglers.
Detained smugglers included Saidul Haque (23), Joynal (22), Mohammad Belal (21), Hossain (Saddam) (28), Mohammad Nazim (20) and Mohammad Kamal (38) . All are residents of Cox’s Bazar.
The seized boat, all materials, and the detained smugglers are undergoing subsequent legal proceedings.
To maintain the country’s law and order situation, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has continued 24-hour patrols. Through this, the law and order situation in the coastal and riverbank areas under the Coast Guard’s jurisdiction has significantly improved. The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future as well.
