Coast Guard arrests two drug peddlers with 55,000 Yaba tablets in Teknaf

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has arrested two suspected drug traffickers and seized 55,000 Yaba tablets worth approximately Tk 2.75 crore in two separate anti-narcotics operations in Teknaf upazila.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan, Coast Guard media officer, disclosed the information on Thursday afternoon .
According to the Coast Guard, acting on a tip-off, a special team from Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted a raid in the area adjacent to Naitongpara under Teknaf police station at around 4:00 PM on Wednesday.
During the search, officers intercepted a suspicious CNG-driven auto-rickshaw and recovered 20,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Tk 1 crore, alongside one mobile phone and the vehicle used for trafficking. One drug peddler was detained during this operation and subsequently handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for legal action.
In a second operation on Thursday morning at around 9:00 AM, a team from Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted another raid in the Keruntali area based on intelligence inputs.
Authorities searched a suspicious battery-run van and recovered 35,000 Yaba tablets worth approximately Tk 1.75 crore cleverly concealed inside. Another drug peddler was arrested, and the van was seized.
