Coast Guard -Navy ioint operation : 9 members of notorious 'Zia Gang 'detained with large catche of arms, ammunition in Moshehkhali

Nine active members of notorious 'Zia Gang' were detained with large cache of arms, ammunition, and weapon-making equipment in Joint Operation by Coast Guard and Navy in Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-Ul-Haq provided this information in a press release on Saturday noon.
The press release stated that based on intelligence reports, it was learned that a group of armed terrorists in Kalarmachhara, under Moheshkhali Thana in Cox’s Bazar, had illegally occupied local salt fields and shrimp farms by holding the general public hostage at gunpoint. When the local community protested, the terrorist group created panic among the people by issuing various threats. Upon the request of the local residents, the Bangladesh Coast Guard intensified its intelligence activities in the area.
As part of this effort, based on the information received, a joint operation was conducted by the Coast Guard and Navy on Saturday at 12:00 PM in the areas of Samira Ghona, Mohammad Shah Ghona, Naya Para, and Tek Para in Kalarmachhara, Moheshkhali. During the operation, one foreign pistol, eight locally-made firearms, eight rounds of live ammunition, fifteen live cartridges, two magazines, thirteen locally-made weapons, and a large quantity of weapon-making equipment were seized, along with the arrest of nine active members of the notorious Zia gang.
The arrested individuals are Mohammad Ali (54), Manik (27), Gias Uddin (59), Salauddin (27), Shahidullah (52), Sabuj (27), and Atikur Rahman (32) from Kalarmachhara, and Rizwan (24) and Nadim Uddin (35) from Huanak Union, Moheshkhali Thana.
The seized evidence and the arrested terrorists are undergoing further legal proceedings.
The press release further stated that the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to eradicate terrorist activities.
