To strengthen crime control and law enforcement, the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has launched a motorcycle patrol system across city police stations on Thursday.
The fleet consists of 100 motorcycles, including 40 newly provided by police headquarters and 60 existing motorcycles.
The program was officially inaugurated at the CMP Headquarters by CMP Commissioner Hasib Aziz, who served as the event’s chief guest.
Commissioner Hasib Aziz stated, “Each patrol team will consist of four officers on two motorcycles, allowing for rapid response to any emergency, including crime control and 999 calls.” He urged patrol members to perform their duties with the highest professionalism.
This initiative follows a pilot program conducted in various police precincts that received a strong public response, leading to its permanent implementation.
High-ranking officials, including Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Abdul Mannan Mia, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Masud Ahmed, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Mohammad Abdul Warish, and Deputy Police Commissioner (Transport) Mohammad Salam Kabir, attended the inauguration.
CMP expects this new patrol system will set a benchmark in enhancing city safety and protecting residents.
