Dengue death toll reaches 300 as three more die, 382 hospitalised

Three people have died of dengue, while 382 more patients been hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease throughout Bangladesh in the past 24 hours.

The Directorate General of Health Services, or DGHS, said as many as 176 were admitted to hospital in Dhaka among the new dengue patients until Friday morning.

In addition, 35 were hospitalised in the Dhaka Division, 25 in the Mymensingh Division, 63 in the Chattogram Division, 46 in the Khulna Division, 20 in the Rajshahi Division, 5 in the Sylhet Division, and 12 in the Barishal Division.

With the new counts, the number of hospitalised dengue patients has reached 62,199 this year. A total of 300 people died among them.

As many as 3,961 patients are currently undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals across the country. They include 1,938 in the capital and 2,023 outside Dhaka.

The DGHS has been keeping records of dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000.
