Child drowns pond in Kaukhali

A child named Afrida Akhtar (8) died after drowning in a pond in Kaukhali, Rangamati. The incident took place in Rangipara village of Kaukhali upazila around 10 am on Saturday.
Afrida is said to be Afzal Hussain's younger daughter.
According to family sources, Afrida was playing sports outside the house around 9 am. A businessman saw child Afrida walking on the bank of neighbor Nizam Saudagar's pond next to the house during the sports.
The family members started looking around for a long time without seeing the girl. Later, according to the information of the businessman, the people of the area started searching in the pond.
On receiving the information, the diving team of Kaukhali Fire Service came and searched for more than an hour and recovered his body from deep in the pond. Later he was taken to Kaukhali Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
