Chhatra Dal protests erupt at JnU over committee exclusion

Aggrieved leaders and activists of the Jagannath University (JnU) unit of the Chhatra Dal, excluded from the newly announced convening committee, staged a protest by lighting fires in front of the university's main gate.
They criticized the committee, calling it a "my-man, syndicate, and pocket committee linked to Chhatra League."
The protest came after a torch procession held on campus on Saturday evening.
The protesting leaders and activists alleged that dedicated members, who had risked their lives to implement party programs, were overlooked in the committee formation. Instead, it was filled with close associates of the central president and secretary.Despite their loyalty and proven track records, others were excluded.
Former JnU Chhatra Dal joint general secretary Saiful Islam Sobuj said: "Only followers of the convener and member secretary were included in the committee. We were left out because we are not my-men of the central president and secretary. Additionally, students from the 9th and 11th batches of the university were entirely excluded, which is blatant discrimination. The number of positions in the committee could have been increased if necessary."
Protector Atikur Rahman Tanzil added: "A discriminatory committee has been formed, leaving out loyal individuals who stood against fascist forces in JnU Chhatra Dal. Tarique Rahman emphasized that even the last person in a rally should have an identity. This directive has not been followed. We protested to demand justice.
