BRAC's innovative initiative for students : New light of education on floating boats in Barguna

BRAC has opened a new horizon in providing quality education and skill development to students in coastal towns. In Barguna region, special programs for practicing mathematics, science and moral values, including free English spoken courses, have been launched for 543 students of 16 secondary schools in collaboration with BRAC's Education Boat Project (Dabi) and Smart Student Finance.
The program was officially inaugurated on Tuesday at 10:30 am on three floating educational boats in the Bharani Canal adjacent to the Zilla School in the municipal town. The inauguration marked the beginning of a new path of modern and enjoyable education for students.
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Jihad Hasan was present as the chief guest at the event. Also present were BRAC Regional Manager (Claims) Mahmudul Hasan, District Coordinators Maruf Parvez and Tuhin Alam, Project Manager of the Education Trail Project Pradeep Kumar Roy, Area Manager Md. Rubel Biswas and SSF Representative Asadur Rahman and other concerned persons.
The organizers said that although the program will initially start with students from selected schools, this opportunity will be opened to students from other schools in phases. Those concerned expressed hope that through this, more students in the Barguna region will become proficient in mathematics, science and language education.
Regional Manager Mahmudul Hasan said, "Our goal is to motivate students to pursue practical and skill-based education, not just limited to textbooks. The floating education ship will play an effective role in that goal."
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Jihad Hasan said, "Such initiatives will increase students' interest in learning and play an important role in shaping their future. This initiative by BRAC is truly commendable."
Meanwhile, ADC (General) Animesh Biswas informed the organizers that he will soon visit the event.
It is mentioned that this educational boat floating in the heart of the river-surrounded township is a reliable refuge for the new generation to fulfill their dreams. This is what parents and locals believe.
