Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Siddiqur Rahman Khan said that Bangladesh Open University is working to improve the skills of the country's workers.
He said this at a view-sharing session organized by Bangladesh Open University Rangpur Regional Center on Saturday afternoon. Director of Bangladesh Open University Rangpur Regional Center Abu Hafiz Md. Fazle Nizami presided over the session.
At the time, BOU VC said that although the students of the Open University have become unemployed due to the job market by adopting the conventional education system, they have established themselves as an asset to the country by developing their skills in their respective fields. As a result, the students are making a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the country, including improving the quality of life.
BOU VC said that under BOU, there are currently 161 own teachers and 23,150 part-time teachers in 1,500 study centers in the country. There are about 3 lakh students in 55 programs in these centers. In addition, BAU's educational programs are being conducted in 7 countries outside the country, including Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Italy. This year, 28 transgender students have been admitted here. BAU is working to bring transgender students, including minority ethnic groups and the Harijan community, under the ambit of education.
