Mirzaganj Upazila BNP Secretary Md. Jahangir Hossain Farazi was arrested from his house in a special army operation in Mirzaganj Upazila of Patuakhali.

A sophisticated US-made 7.65 mm pistol, one magazine and two rounds of ammunition were recovered from the arrested house during the raid.

Jahangir Hussain Farazi was arrested in this operation and further legal action is being taken against him.

It should be noted that Jahangir Hussain Farazi is the son of Motaleb Farazi of Mirzaganj Upazila.

On the basis of intelligence information, joint forces led by Camp Commander of Mirzaganj Army Camp Captain Riman Rafin Nishat raided Jahangir Hossain Faraji's house in the early hours of November 7.

A special team consisting of 52 separate MLRS batteries of the army, artillery and police conducted the operation.

According to the sources of the joint forces, during the operation, after a long search in the house of Jahangir Hussain Farazi, a sophisticated US-made pistol, a magazine and two rounds of ammunition were recovered carefully hidden in two different rooms of the house. The army seized the recovered arms and ammunition and the arrested Jahangir Farazi was handed over to Mirzaganj police station for legal proceedings.

Captain Riman Rafin Nishat, the army officer who conducted the operation, said, "This operation has been conducted on the basis of specific intelligence information. This operation is in continuation of the operation that the army is conducting nationwide against illegal weapons to ensure the security of the country. This operation will continue in the future as well." He further said, "How the recovered weapons were intended to be used is being investigated. Action will be taken against the accused as per applicable laws."

According to local police and administration sources, a case will be filed against the detained Jahangir Farazi and legal action will be taken against him.
