BIIF-NCC Bank's week-long training course begins
The inauguration of the six-day 'Professional Certificate in Islamic Banking (PCIB)' training course jointly organized by Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Finance (BIIF) and National Credit and Commerce Bank PLC (NCCBL) was held at the BIIF Training Hall in Motijheel, Dhaka, on Sunday..
Mr. M. Shamsul Arefin, Managing Director and CEO of NCC Bank PLC, was present as the chief guest at the event. He said, “Currently, there are ten fully-fledged Sharia-based Islamic banks and more than a hundred Islamic branches and windows operating in the country. Since interest-based banking is against religion, Islamic banking with profit-loss-sharing system has gained acceptance among the people of this country.
In his speech, Director General of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) and Founding Director of BIIF, Professor Dr. M. Abdul Aziz said, “Islamic banking and financial sector is already playing an important role in the global economy. However, there is still a shortage of trained and skilled human resources in this sector. BIIF, as an independent organization, is working tirelessly to enhance the professional skills of Islamic banking, finance and business professionals. I
Prof.Dr. H. M. Mosharraf Hossain, Chairman of the Finance Department of Dhaka University, and AQM Shafiullah Arif, Head of Islamic Banking Division of NCC Bank, were present as special guests. BIIF Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator Dr. K. M. Zakir Hossain Selim delivered the welcome address and BIIF Assistant Director Md. Golam Mortuza moderated the program.
The training course will continue till 11 October 2025; this is a day-long training by BIIF and will include 22 sessions on Islamic Economics, Sharia-based Banking Framework, Shariah Contracts, Islamic Money Market, Risk Management, Regulatory Framework. The trainers will be eminent bankers, economists and former officials of Bangladesh Bank.
