Barguna Reporters Unity forms new committee

The new executive committee of the Barguna Reporters Unity for the 2026–2027 term has been formed, with Tapas Mahmud elected as President and Md. Russel Howlader as General Secretary.

The committee was finalized during a special meeting held Thursday morning at the Barguna Reporters Unity office, presided over by outgoing president Md. Jahangir Hossain Sikder and conducted by Chief Election Commissioner Gobinda Chandra Malakar.

Following the meeting, the oath-taking ceremony and inaugural event for the newly elected committee took place at Hotel Bay of Bengal in the city. District Information Officer Selim Mahmud attended as the guest of honor and administered the oath of office to the newly elected leaders.

Other members of the newly formed committee include Senior Vice-President Sajibul Islam, Vice-Presidents Rashed Ahmed Bashir and Md. Monirul Islam, Joint General Secretary Atiqur Rahman Ishti, Organizing Secretary Maulana Idrisur Rahman, Finance Secretary Md. Arifur Rahman Khan, Office Secretary Ripon Mali, Publicity Secretary Rakibul Islam Russell, Information and Research Secretary Mohibullah Kiran, Women Affairs Secretary Dr. Moniza, Cultural Secretary Shawon, Religious Affairs Secretary Maulana Mahadi Hasan, and Sports/Games Secretary Md. Elias Mia.

Additionally, Md. Jahangir Hossain Sikder, Gobinda Chandra Malakar, Sohel Tanvir, and Mahbubul Alam Mannu were elected as executive members. The newly elected leaders expressed their firm commitment to working collectively for the unity of the organization and professional development.
