Autorickshaw driver's body recovered in Rupganj

Police have recovered the body of an autorickshaw driver named Babul Mia (52) from a paddy field in Rupganj, Narayanganj.
His body was recovered from a paddy field in Agla area of Daudpur union of the upazila on Sunday afternoon.
Babul Mia is the son of Bachchu Mia of Kazipara area of Pubail police station in Gazipur district.
Rupganj Purbachal Police Camp Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahangir Alam said that locals saw a person's body lying in a paddy field in Agla area around 10 am and informed the police. The police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Later, on receiving the information, the family members came and identified the body of autorickshaw driver Bachchu Mia.
He further said that it is believed that sometime at night, miscreants strangled autorickshaw driver Bachchu Mia by tying an iron chain around his neck and dumped his body in a paddy field, considering it a safe place.
Preparations are underway to file a case in this incident. Those involved in the murder will be identified quickly and brought to justice.
