Long organized queues outside polling centers, a festive atmosphere, and Ansar-VDP personnel assisting elderly and infirm voters marked the execution of security operations during the Thakurgaon-1 parliamentary constituency by-election on Thursday.
A total of 2,405 members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) were deployed across 185 polling centers to maintain law and order and facilitate voting procedures. With 13 personnel stationed at each center, the security forces managed crowd control, maintained queue discipline, and assisted voters with physical mobility limitations to reach polling booths.
To ensure quick response capabilities, 10 specialized striking teams from the Ansar Battalion were deployed alongside local administrative units, conducting continuous mobile patrols throughout the electoral area. Senior officials maintained field-level monitoring from the commencement of polling at 8:00 am through the conclusion of voting at 4:00 pm.
The overall security apparatus was supervised on-site by Ansar-VDP Rangpur Range Deputy Director General Mohammad Abdul Awal and Director Shafikul Alam. They were joined by Safipur Ansar Battalion Director Bikash Kumar, Thakurgaon Ansar Battalion Deputy Director Mehenaj Tabassum Rebin, Thakurgaon District Commandant Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan, and 12 Assistant Directors undergoing probation from the 44th BCS Cadre.
Following the peaceful conclusion of voting at 4:00 pm, polling officials commenced the vote-counting process. Bangladesh Ansar and VDP personnel will remain deployed in the field to secure the transit of ballot boxes to the district election offices and maintain public order until the final official results are announced and normal civic routines resume.
