Allegation of extortion of Tk one lakh from farmer in Khankhanapur

An allegation has been received that one lakh taka was embezzled from a banana farmer named Tofazzal Hossain (47) from the Char Chandpur area of Digri in Sadar Khankhanapur Union of Rajbari.
The victim farmer is the son of the late Abdul Gafur Fakir of Fakirdanga Degree Char Chandpur village in Khankhanapur union of Rajbari Sadar upazila.
In this regard, the aggrieved farmer has filed a complaint with Rajbari Sadar Police Station in the name of two people and 4/5 unknown people.
The accused are Md. Saidur Rahman Mostaq (49), son of Khandaker Abdul Razzak Master of Chandpur village, Digrichar, Samad Kazi (51), son of Mannan Kazi of the same village, and 4/5 other unidentified people have been made accused.
According to the complaint of the victim and the police station, on Tuesday, October 14, the victim borrowed one lakh taka from his close relative, Md. Saiful Islam, from Jhiltuli Tower area of Faridpur, to plant a banana garden and set off for home on a motorcycle. When the victim arrived in front of the Baitun-Nur-Jame Mosque in his home area at around 12 noon, the defendants stopped the motorcycle and snatched one lakh taka from the victim and demanded another five lakh taka from four or five unidentified victims who were with the defendants. When the victim refused to pay the ransom, the defendants threatened to kill him by stabbing him in the head and chest. When the victim shouted, the people around him came running and the defendants fled.
Victim Md. Tofazzal Hossain said, "I run a banana plantation on my 10 bighas of land. I was returning home after borrowing one lakh taka from a relative to expand the banana plantation. On the way back, Saidur Rahman and Samad Kazi forcibly took the money from me. The defendants are terrorists, so I have approached the administration to save my life."
In this regard, Rajbari Sadar Police Station OC Md. Mahmudur Rahman said, he has received a written complaint in this regard and action will be taken subject to investigation.
