Hatibandha (Lalmonirhat) Correspondent
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) found serious problems in the supply of food and medicine for patients at Lalmonirhat General Hospital. On Sunday, a team led by Assistant Director Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury checked the hospital’s store rooms and medicine supplies.
They found that patients were given much less food than they should get. Instead of 90 grams per day, they only got 30 to 50 grams. Also, there were big mistakes in the records of medicines and medical tools.
The hospital’s in-charge Dr. Abdul Mokaddem and Dr. Samira were present during the check.
Mr. Mizanur said ACC will send a full report to the commission. Legal action may be taken after finding out who is responsible. He added that such corruption in health care can be dangerous for public health.
Hospital officials said they helped the team but did not comment on the reasons for the problems. The ACC may file cases or suggest punishment for those involved.
